Iowa Community Tree Steward Program Offered in North Central Iowa
For this summer only, Iowa State University (ISU) Extension Forestry and Horticulture are offering the Iowa Community Tree Steward Program to the residents of Hamilton, Humboldt, Webster and Wright counties this May and June 2006. This is your chance to become a Certified Iowa Community Tree Steward.
The Iowa Community Tree Steward Program is intended for citizens and professionals who wish to learn more about trees and tree care. The course consists of six hands-on classes that cover tree identification, tree selection, landscape planning, pruning, planting, disease and insect management, risk tree assessment and much more. The classes will take place from 6 to 10 p.m. The cost is $30 per person. The dates are May 23 and 30, and June 6, 13, 20 and 27.
The program is sponsored by ISU Extension, Iowa DNR, Iowa Urban and Community Forestry Council, Trees Forever, Iowa Arborist Association and the USDA Forest Service.
