AMES, Iowa -- Brooke Jensen of Howard County received a state 4-H horse project award that includes a $100 savings bond from Latham Seeds. Jensen, 17, is the daughter of Eric and Monica Jensen of LeRoy, Minnesota.

During her eight years of 4-H involvement, Jensen has completed several major projects including horse, beef and swine.  She has served her local 4-H club as president, vice president, reporter, secretary and treasurer. Jensen has attended the Iowa 4-H Youth Conference/Animal Science Roundup as a delegate in Ames, Iowa.  She has received her county's horse project and record keeping awards.  Jensen has also received awards for horse, swine and record keeping at the 2005 Northeast Iowa 4-H Youth Recognition Event.

"4-H has helped me in many ways," said Jensen.  "It has taught me responsibility, record-keeping skills, youth-adult partnerships and how to manage my time.  I've developed a lot of skills in the horse area thanks to all the adults who have helped.  Overall, I'm grateful for all 4-H has done for me."
