Hamilton County 4-H'er Earns Clothing Project Award


AMES, Iowa -- Alayna Carlson of Hamilton County received a state 4-H clothing project award that includes a $100 savings bond from the Iowa 4-H Foundation and the Mary Jo and Glen Mente Endowment. Carlson, 16, is the daughter of Brad and Karleen Carlson of Jewell.


During her eight years of 4-H involvement, Carlson has completed several major projects including clothing, child development, home improvement, communications and personal development.  She has served her local 4-H club as secretary, reporter and co-historian.  Carlson has served on her County and Area 4-H Councils and has received her county's clothing, child development and home improvement awards. She has also received a Seal of Excellence for her working exhibit at the Iowa State Fair and participated in the Iowa State Fair Fashion Revue program.  Carlson was the 2002 and 2004 winner for the Iowa Junior Make It Yourself With Wool competition. 


"4-H has given me the opportunity to grow and gain the skills and confidence it will take to become a leader of the future," said Carlson. 


Carlson is a junior at South Hamilton High School in Jewell.
