Linn County 4-H'er Earns Citizenship Project Award


AMES, Iowa -- Kierstyn Borg of Linn County received a state 4-H citizenship project award that includes a $100 savings bond from the Zetta Lind Memorial. Borg, 17, is the daughter of Dean and Sheila Borg of Mount Vernon.


During her eight years of 4-H involvement, Borg has completed several major projects including photography, citizenship, leadership and public speaking presentations.  She has served her local 4-H club as president, vice president, secretary/treasurer and reporter.  Borg has served on her County 4-H Council, the Iowa State 4-H Council and has been a delegate to the Iowa 4-H Youth Conference/Animal Science Roundup conference in Ames, Iowa. She has received the Danforth Leadership Award and was awarded the Top Award of Excellence in Public Speaking Presentation and was featured in the Photography Gallery at the Iowa State Fair.


"4-H has given me the opportunity to develop my skills and to see my responsibility to my community as a citizen," said Borg.  "Because of the experiences 4-H has provided to me, I have a much greater vision of career possibilities for me."
