AMES, Iowa –The Iowa 4-H Foundation recently approved and welcomed seven new trustees, including Iowa high school students, at its annual meeting at the Extension 4-H Youth Building on the Iowa State University (ISU) campus in Ames.
New trustees are: Corby Fitcher, Essex; Don Foley, Ames; Ann Maine, Des Moines; Dale Port, Cedar Falls; Bill Tomlinson, Ankeny; and youth representatives, Greta Johnson, Ireton; and Jonathon Kempf, Jamaica.
The trustees join a board committed to raising more than $2.4 million annually to support the Iowa 4-H youth development programs throughout the state.
The board of trustees is comprised of individuals from various backgrounds: ISU Extension, private business, government, farming, community leadership and Iowa State 4-H Council membership.
Iowa 4-H Foundation Executive Director, Joe Leisz, said he is enthusiastic about the potential the board has to raise the funds needed to strengthen the 4-H program for Iowa’s 124,000 participants.
“Several of these individuals have already joined other board members in planning giving seminars, special grant projects, marketing and new endowment fundraising,” said Leisz.
A trustee term with the Iowa 4-H Foundation includes four meetings and one strategic planning retreat, and lasts three years.
