AMES, Iowa--Nine trustees of the Iowa 4-H Foundation recently completed their terms and were honored for outstanding service at a meeting on the Iowa State University (ISU) campus in Ames.
Trustees retiring from the board include Mary Heistand-Bro, Harlan; James Cornick, Des Moines; Cathy Erickson, Des Moines; Mike Gumina, Johnston; Karol Nickell, Urbandale; Barbara Sexton, Rockwell City; Dana Wenstrand, Essex and youth representatives Brooks Nelson, New Providence and Lee Schoof, Primghar.
Joe Leisz, Iowa 4-H Foundation executive director, stated that the board has accomplished initiatives that have positively impacted Iowa 4-H youth with new marketing efforts and the completion of the president’s campaign, in which Pioneer, a Dupont Company, matched 50 cents on every dollar raised by the foundation.
“I have been fortunate to work with these trustees as they have made a real difference in the lives of Iowa’s 124,000 participants,” said Leisz.
The “President’s Campaign” raised $450,000 dollars to strengthen the youth development programs throughout the state, according to Jim Patton, 2004-2005 board president.
ISU President Gregory Geoffroy thanked the trustees for serving the Iowa 4-H Foundation and Iowa 4-H program during his report to the board.
