Iowa Team Places Second in National 4-H Dairy Cattle Judging Contest

AMES, Iowa--The Iowa 4-H Dairy Cattle Judging Team from Dubuque County placed second at the National 4-H Dairy Cattle Judging contest at the 2005 World Dairy Expo in Madison, Wisc. on Oct. 3. This is the highest finish for the team since 1973.
The team consists of Todd Wolf, Curt Wolf, Tim Rauen and Sarah Bahl and is coached by Jeff Hammerand and Amanda Arlen. Todd Wolf finished fourth overall in the competition along with Curt Wolf and Rauen who finished eighth and sixteenth respectively.
"The team did such a phenomenal job, and we were confident that they would do well at the national competition," said Mary Clancy, 4-H Ag Program Specialist with Iowa State University Extension.
The team competed in five cow classes and five heifer classes that were selected from the following breeds: Ayrshire, Brown Swiss, Guernsey, Holstein and Jersey.
