AMES, Iowa-- Rebecca Dockendorff of Des Moines County has been selected to represent Iowa at the National 4-H Congress in Atlanta, Ga. Nov. 25-29. Dockendorff, 16, is the daughter of John and Sandy Dockendorff of Danville and a junior at Danville Community High School.
Dockendorff will join 22 other 4-H youth from Iowa at the youth leadership conference, entitled "Lead, Learn, Grow." Iowa's Congress delegates are selected through interviews and evaluation of support materials. Dockendorff was chosen for her leadership, citizenship and overall achievement in the 4-H program.
An eight-year 4-H’er, Dockendorff has entered the horse, sheep, fashion revue, clothing selection and cat project areas. She served her 4-H club as president, vice president and secretary and served on the county 4-H Council. Dockendorff also received the Top Senior Fashion Revue award in her county.
"4-H has been a big help in my life by giving me opportunities to gain new leadership skills and to practice others," said Dockendorff. "The opportunity to meet new people with different ideas helps me to expand my horizons."
