AMES, Iowa-- Miranda Blanchard of Story County has been selected to represent Iowa at the National 4-H Congress in Atlanta, Ga. Nov. 25-29. Blanchard, 17, is the daughter of Mike and Shari Caruth of Colo and a senior at Colo-Nesco High School.
Blanchard will join 22 other 4-H youth from Iowa at the youth leadership conference, entitled "Lead, Learn, Grow." Iowa's Congress delegates are selected through interviews and evaluation of support materials. Blanchard was chosen for her leadership, citizenship and overall achievement in the 4-H program.
A nine-year 4-H’er, Blanchard has entered the communications, food and nutrition, clothing, photography and dairy goat project areas. She served her 4-H club as president, vice president and historian. Blanchard served on the county, area and state 4-H Councils and has attended the Iowa 4-H Youth Conference/Animal Science Roundup at Iowa State University and the Citizenship Washington Focus trip to Washington D.C.
"4-H has helped me so much with life skills that I will use the rest of my life," Blanchard said. "I have gained many leadership and communication abilities that will help me with whatever major I pursue in college."
