AMES, Iowa -- Sheep producers should mark their calendars for two Winter Sheep ICN programming dates, Nov. 29 and Dec. 13. Dr. Cindy Wolf, University of Minnesota Extension sheep veterinarian, will be the featured presenter for the first session on Nov. 29. Dr. Wolf currently chairs the National Animal Identification System Sheep and Goat subcommittee.
Wolf’s first topic for the evening program will be on national identification in terms of the current situation and where the sheep industry is headed. Dr. Wolf along with her husband run 1500 ewes in southeast Minnesota. She will share her wealth of sheep health expertise as an additional part of the program.
The Dec. 13 ICN will feature Paul Rogers, deputy director of policy for the American Sheep Industry Association, and Brad Anderson of the Iowa Lamb Corporation. Rogers will share highlights on national programs and bright spots in the sheep industry’s future. Anderson will discuss his job as a lamb meat marketer along with what producers can do to get more for their product.
The Winter Sheep ICN program is a cooperative effort between ISU Extension and the Iowa Sheep and Wool Promotion Board. Both programs begin at 7 p.m. Producers do not need to pre-register, but there is a $10 per session fee. Following is the list of ICN locations for this program.
