AMES, Iowa -- A $2,000 scholarship has been awarded to a Linn County student. Alyssa Clark, Marion, received a Hills Bank 4-H Scholarship sponsored by Hills Bank and Trust Company.
The Hills Bank 4-H Scholarship is awarded to as many as 20 students each year. The recipients, who apply during their junior year in high school, attend nine hours of leadership training sponsored by Hills Bank and Trust Company during their senior year. Afterward, they receive $500 per semester for two years. The scholarship may be used at any of Iowa's accredited universities, colleges or community colleges.
"I learned about the different styles of leadership and what style I have," Clark, the daughter of Chuck and Brenda Clark, said. "Filling others' buckets can have a positive impact on them and me."
Clark has been involved in several activities including National Honor Society, National Council of Youth Leadership, SODA, softball, basketball, track, volleyball and Win With Wellness. She is the secretary of her senior class and vice president of National Honor Society. Clark was named a State of Iowa Scholar and WaMAC Conference All Academic team member.
A senior at Marion, Clark plans to attend Luther College and major in elementary education.
