Madison County 4-H Member Receives Prestage-Stoecker Farms 4-H Scholarship

AMES, Iowa -- A $500 scholarship has been awarded to a Madison County 4-H member. Klaire O'Rourke, Earlham, received a Prestage-Stoecker Farms 4-H Scholarship sponsored by Stoecker Farms, Inc.

O'Rourke, a 10-year 4-H member, is the daughter of Tom and Maggie O'Rourke. She has served as president, vice president and secretary of her 4-H club. O'Rourke has participated most actively in the horse/pony, communication, home improvement and clothing project areas. She has served on her state, county and area 4-H councils, and has attended the Iowa 4-H Youth Conference. She has received the "I Dare You" award and was a member of a state champion horse judging team, representing Iowa at the National 4-H Horse Judging Contest.

"4-H has taught me so many valuable life skills that have made me the person I am today," O'Rourke said. "It has also helped me to make lasting friendships."

O'Rourke attends Iowa State University where she is majoring in agriculture business. She is a member of Collegiate 4-H, Agriculture Business Club, her dorm floor cabinet and the ISU Horse Judging Team. O'Rourke also has been involved as a youth leader in the Operation Military Kids 4-H program, which has helped 4-H become more involved with families and kids whose parents are serving overseas.
