Hamilton County 4-H Member Receives Pioneer Community College 4-H Scholarship

AMES, Iowa -- A $500 scholarship has been awarded to a Hamilton County 4-H member. Cassandra Roe, Williams, received a Pioneer Community College 4-H Scholarship sponsored by Pioneer Hi-Bred International, Inc.

Roe, a seven-year 4-H member, is the daughter of Don and Dianne Roe. She has served as president, secretary and treasurer of her 4-H club. Roe has participated most actively in the leadership, rabbit, market sheep, breeding sheep and clothing project areas. She has served on her county 4-H council and youth committee and attended the Iowa 4-H Youth Conference and Citizenship-Washington Focus conference. Roe has received seals of excellence for her working exhibits at the Iowa State Fair. She also received a Chicago trip award and a county leadership achievement award.

"My 4-H experience has helped me become the person I am today," Roe said. “4-H has taught me to think through things before I act upon them, show passion and emotion for things that I care about and believe in, not be afraid to get my hands dirty and help others, and live life to the fullest and make every day count.”

Roe is a senior at Northeast Hamilton High School. She plans to attend Ellsworth Community College to major in biotechnology.
