Worth County 4-H Member Receives C. J. Gauger 4-H Scholarship
5/4/2005
AMES, Iowa -- A $750 scholarship has been awarded to a Worth County 4-H member. Ben Schipull, Northwood, received the C.J. Gauger 4-H Scholarship sponsored by the Iowa 4-H Scholarship Endowment Fund.
Schipull, a 12-year 4-H member, is the son of Dennis and Ramona Schipull. He has served as vice president and treasurer of his 4-H club. Schipull has participated most actively in the swine, sheep, crop production, science and technology and photography project areas. He has served on the state, county and area 4-H councils and the county 4-H youth committee. Schipull attended National 4-H Congress, the Iowa 4-H Youth Conference, and the Citizenship-Washington Focus conference. He received a state citizenship project award and the county AK-SAR-BEN award.
"4-H has shown me that you can't judge a book by its cover. When I first entered 4-H, I thought it was just a bunch a farm kids showing off their livestock, but as I became older I learned that there is so much more," Schipull said. "Through 4-H I have developed a variety of talents and I have developed an interest in engineering that will lead me to a successful career."
Schipull is a senior at Northwood Kensett High School. He plans to attend Iowa State University to study engineering.
