AMES, Iowa -- A $500 scholarship has been awarded to a Washington County 4-H member. Andrew Schneider, Riverside, received a Pioneer Community College 4-H Scholarship sponsored by Pioneer Hi-Bred International, Inc.
Schneider, a nine-year 4-H member, is the son of James and Louella Schneider. He has served as president and vice president of his 4-H club. Schneider has participated most actively in the market beef, breeding beef, photography, swine and communications project areas. He has served on his county 4-H council and was the county champion senior beef showman. Schneider has exhibited beef at the Iowa State Fair, Ak-Sar-Ben, and the Iowa Beef Expo.
"4-H has built my character and prepared me for a future in agriculture," Schneider said. "I hope to be able to participate in and give back to 4-H even after my years of exhibiting."
