Taylor County 4-H Member Receives Iowa State Fair 4-H Scholarship

AMES, Iowa -- A $1,000 scholarship has been awarded to a Taylor County 4-H member. Kelly Norris, Bedford, received an Iowa State Fair 4-H Scholarship sponsored by the Iowa Foundation for Advancement of Agriculture.

Norris, a nine-year 4-H member, is the son of Kenny and Krystal Norris. He has served as president, vice president, secretary and reporter of his 4-H club. Norris has participated most actively in the photography and horticulture project areas. Norris has been an Iowa State Fair exhibitor for eight years in horticulture and photography and has participated in the 4-H communication events. At the local level Norris has won a citizenship award.

"It is through 4-H that I have learned the fine skills of extension education and I know without this link between academics and people of all ages we would be at a loss for advancement," Norris said. "I wish to continue in this spirit of outreach so as to help people better ourselves and constantly challenge the knowledge of the world we live in."

Norris is a senior at Bedford Community High School. He plans to attend Iowa State University to study horticulture.
