Pocahontas County 4-H Member Receives Pioneer Community College 4-H Scholarship


AMES, Iowa -- A $500 scholarship has been awarded to a Pocahontas County 4-H member. Gabriel Munson, Rolfe, received a Pioneer Community College 4-H Scholarship sponsored by Pioneer Hi-Bred International, Inc.


Munson, a 10-year 4-H member, is the son of Glenn and Sarah Munson. He has served as president, vice president, treasurer and photographer of his 4-H club. Munson has participated most actively in the horse, beef, agriculture and natural resources, home improvement and food and nutrition project areas. He has served on his county 4-H council and attended the Citizenship-Washington Focus conference in Washington, D.C. Munson also has received county awards for citizenship and achievement.


"Through 4-H I've learned life skills that have given me deep roots in agriculture and caring for myself and community," Munson said. "I enjoy life in the rural area and look forward to studying agriculture."


Munson is a senior at Pocahontas Area High School. He plans to attend Iowa Lakes Community College to study agricultural business.
