AMES, Iowa -- A $500 scholarship has been awarded to an O'Brien County 4-H member. Justin Steinkamp, Primghar, received the Pioneer Community College 4-H Scholarship sponsored by Pioneer Hi-Bred International, Inc.

Steinkamp, a nine-year 4-H member, is the son of Bob and Kim Steinkamp. He has served as vice president, treasurer and historian of his 4-H club. Steinkamp has participated most actively in the swine, beef, bottle/bucket calf and woodworking project areas. He served on his county 4-H council and attended the Iowa 4-H Youth Conference. Steinkamp has received the "Danforth I Dare You" leadership award, was the O'Brien County Fair King, and participated in 4-H educational presentations and Share the Fun at the Iowa State Fair.

"4-H has given me the opportunity to learn new skills and has given me the challenges to show a lot of growth in many areas of my life," Steinkamp said. "I will be able to carry my 4-H experience on in life and use it in my career with truck and diesel technology."

Steinkamp is a senior at South O'Brien High School. He plans to attend Northwest Iowa Community College and enroll in the truck and diesel technology program.
