Jones County 4-H Member Receives Alumni 4-H Scholarship

AMES, Iowa -- A $500 scholarship has been awarded to a Jones County 4-H member. Megan Luckstead, Anamosa, received the Alumni 4-H Scholarship sponsored by the Iowa 4-H Foundation Scholarship Fund.

Luckstead, a 10-year 4-H member, is the daughter of Jim and Jacki Luckstead. She has served as president, vice president, treasurer, historian and reporter of her 4-H club. Luckstead has participated most actively in the beef, photography, clothing, bucket/bottle calf and food and nutrition project areas. She served on her county 4-H council and attended the Citizenship-Washington Focus conference in Washington, D.C., and the Iowa 4-H Youth Conference. Luckstead was also a member of the Iowa 4-H Technology Team and the Iowa State Fair 4-H Media Team and was a host for a 4-H exchange program.

"4-H has influenced my future plans by helping me find a hobby that I like to do, which is photography, and turning it into a career," Luckstead said. "4-H helped me to learn how to be a better person by doing presentations, going to conferences, being a leader, and helping others through service projects in my community."

Luckstead is a senior at Anamosa High School. She plans to attend Hawkeye Community College to study professional photography.
