Hamilton County 4-H Member Receives Pioneer Community College 4-H Scholarship
AMES, Iowa -- A $500 scholarship has been awarded to a Hamilton County 4-H member. Samantha Groves, Kamrar, received a Pioneer Community College 4-H Scholarship sponsored by Pioneer Hi-Bred International, Inc.
Groves, a nine-year 4-H member, is the daughter of George and Galene Groves. She has served as president, vice president, secretary and reporter of her 4-H club. Groves has participated most actively in the swine, photography, animal science, leadership and citizenship project areas. She has served on her county 4-H council and youth committee. Groves attended the Citizenship-Washington Focus conference and the Iowa 4-H Youth Conference. Groves received the Danforth leadership award and was an Iowa Pork Youth Ambassador and the Hamilton County Pork Queen.
"From my club leaders to community service projects and activities, I have experienced hard work and lots of fun," Groves said. "Being actively involved over these last nine years has taught me leadership and communication skills that will be valuable for the rest of my life. I am the person I am today because of 4-H."
Groves is a senior at Webster City High School. She plans to attend Ellsworth Community College to study agricultural science.
