Dubuque County 4-H Member Receives Pioneer Community College 4-H Scholarship

AMES, Iowa -- A $500 scholarship has been awarded to a Dubuque County 4-H member. Tim Rauen, Farley, received a Pioneer Community College 4-H Scholarship sponsored by Pioneer Hi-Bred International, Inc.

Rauen, a 10-year 4-H member, is the son of Steve and Joanne Rauen. He has served as president, vice president, reporter and photographer of his 4-H club. Rauen has participated most actively in the dairy, photography, food and nutrition, 4-H poster and self-determined project areas. He attended the National 4-H Dairy Conference and was a member of the first place dairy quiz bowl team that traveled to Louisville, Ky. to compete in the national dairy quiz bowl. Rauen was the Dubuque County 4-H Fair king and received photography and showmanship awards.

"4-H has taught me leadership, responsibility and dedication. It has allowed me to travel and meet many great people and to create lasting friendships," Rauen said. "My involvement in 4-H dairy has made it easy for me to decide to pursue a career in the dairy industry."

Rauen is a senior at Western Dubuque High School. He plans to attend Calmar Community College to study dairy science.
