Dallas County 4-H Member Receives Orscheln 4-H Scholarship

AMES, Iowa -- A $1,000 scholarship has been awarded to a Dallas County 4-H member. Jenna Burkhart, Woodward, received the Orscheln 4-H Scholarship sponsored by Orscheln Farm & Home Supply Co., Inc.

Burkhart, a nine-year 4-H member, is the daughter of Jeff and Jill Burkhart. She has served as president, vice president, secretary and treasurer of her 4-H club. Burkhart has participated most actively in the dairy, food and nutrition, photography, visual arts and home improvement project areas. She also has exhibited dairy, photography, and food and nutrition exhibits at the Iowa State Fair. Burkhart has participated in Animal Science Roundup and attended the Iowa 4-H Youth Conference. She also has attended the Citizenship-Washington Focus conference in Washington D.C. and has received the Governor's Volunteer Award.

"4-H has helped influence me as a person by teaching me to be a good citizen," Burkhart said. "I realized that volunteering and doing community projects are fun and rewarding. 4-H has also helped with my communication skills, and helped me realize how important agriculture is to my future plans."

Burkhart is a senior at Woodward-Granger High School. She plans to attend Iowa State University to study agriculture.
