Cherokee County 4-H Member Receives Pioneer Community College 4-H Scholarship

AMES, Iowa -- A $500 scholarship has been awarded to a Cherokee County 4-H member. John Peters, Marcus, received a Pioneer Community College 4-H Scholarship sponsored by Pioneer Hi-Bred International, Inc.

Peters, a six-year 4-H member, is the son of Steve and Gwen Peters. He has served as president and secretary of his 4-H club. Peters has participated most actively in the advanced sheep feeding and advanced cattle feeding project areas. He has served on his county 4-H council and attended the Iowa 4-H Youth Conference and Animal Science Roundup.

"4-H has influenced me in my ability to stand up and talk in front of people," Peters said. "This leadership skill will contribute in my future role as a leader in my community."

Peters is a senior at Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn High School. He plans to attend Iowa Lakes Community College and study agribusiness technology.
