Madison County 4-H member joins in 2005 Camera Corps events


AMES, Iowa -- Wyeth Lynch, Prole, participated in the 2005 Camera Corps educational photography workshop and training program at Iowa State University on June 8.


High school 4-H members learned from Des Moines, Iowa, photography professionals in a morning session at the Iowa Extension 4-H Youth Building. Speakers included John Gaps III, Community Publications Director for the Des Moines Register and Pulitzer Prize finalist; Kevin Cooney, news anchor for KCCI-TV in Des Moines; and Courtney Kintzer, Director of Photography for KCCI-TV.  In the afternoon participants took photos at Reiman Gardens and on the Iowa State campus. 


Lynch, a senior, and approximately 30 other Iowa 4-H'ers were chosen for the Camera Corps based on applications and photos.

Camera Corps members will visit Williams, Iowa, on July 4, to take photographs and conduct interviews to document the small town celebration.  The photos and stories will be on display in Williams and in the state of Iowa archives.  The 4-H Camera Corps also will spend a day documenting the Iowa State Fair and the results will be on display at the Iowa State Historical Museum.  Tim Florer, photographer and author, will lead youth in these events.


The 4-H Camera Corps began in 2004 as a way to document the 150th Iowa State Fair.  Iowa 4-H is collaborating with Nationwide Agribusiness, the Iowa Arts Council and Florer to make the program possible.
