Louisa County Student Receives Hills Bank 4-H Scholarship

AMES, Iowa -- A $2,000 scholarship has been awarded to a Louisa County student. Seanteelle Smith, Muscatine, received a Hills Bank 4-H Scholarship sponsored by Hills Bank and Trust Company.

The Hills Bank 4-H Scholarship is awarded to as many as 20 students each year. The recipients, who apply during their junior year in high school, attend nine hours of leadership training sponsored by Hills Bank and Trust Company during their senior year. Afterward, they receive $500 per semester for two years. The scholarship may be used at any of Iowa's accredited universities, colleges or community colleges.

"I have learned to always stay on top of things and reach for the stars," Smith, the daughter of Samantha and Gary Geiger, said.

Smith has been involved in several activities including cheerleading, track and student council, and was the president of her senior class.  She was also a member of speech, drama and poetry clubs. She participated in state speech, drama and mock trial competitions.

A recent graduate of Louisa-Muscatine High School, Smith plans to continue her studies at Muscatine Community College in sociology and social work.
