Life in Iowa

6/24/2005

Holly Boston, a senior in management from Sioux City, is working in Ames this summer for Sauer Danfoss as part of ISU Extension's Life in Iowa intern program. She is a human resources intern working in recruiting, payroll and the human resources information systems. Boston is working with scheduling, screening and interviewing, as well as helping manage the paperwork involved in the recruitment process.

Each Life in Iowa intern donates 100 hours of time over the summer to a community volunteer project. Boston is volunteering at The Arc of Story County helping youth with evening activities such as bowling, track, dance and soccer.

The Life in Iowa program encourages students to stay in Iowa after college graduation by involving them in the communities in which they are working. The interns complement their work experience with classroom learning and service projects that help them experience the people, businesses and organizations that make Iowa a great place to live and work. The program encourages students to develop leadership, ethics and service skills that will help them in the future.
