___(Name)___, ___(Town)___, attended a continuing education program in city management recently at Iowa State University. The three-day Municipal Clerks Academy was conducted by ISU Extension July 20-22 in Ames.

Advanced topics offered in this session included effective engagement with the public, building community foundations, franchising municpal utilities, computer software for small cities, best practices for managing city government, and building an effective relationship with the press.

The program is sponsored by the ISU Extension Office of State and Local Government Programs in conjunction with the Iowa Municipal Finance Officers Association. Instructors include ISU faculty, extension staff, bonding attorneys, accounting experts and city clerks who have completed the Institute. By attending the academy, city officials increase their knowledge and skills to better serve the citizens of their communities.
