Iowa Community Tree Steward Program Offered Around Iowa

AMES, Iowa -- This year Iowa State University Extension is offering the Iowa Community Tree Steward Program to the residents of Jasper, Marion, Mahaska and Poweshiek counties. Those who complete this program, to be offered in May and June, will become certified Iowa Community Tree Stewards.

The course is intended for citizens and professionals who wish to learn more about trees and tree care. It consists of six hands-on classes that cover tree identification, tree selection, landscape planning, pruning, planting, disease and insect management and hazard tree assessment. The classes will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. for six weeks. The cost is $30 per person.
