8/3/2005

AMES, Iowa -- A $500 scholarship has been awarded to a Pocahontas County 4-H member. Mitchel Aden, Pomeroy, received the Iowa Select Farms 4-H Scholarship sponsored by Iowa Select Farms, L.P.

Aden, a nine-year 4-H member, is the son of Brent and Susie Aden. He has served as president, vice president, treasurer and secretary of his 4-H club. Aden has participated most actively in the market beef, market sheep, breeding sheep and livestock judging project areas.

"The first real experience that I had in agriculture came from 4-H," Aden said. "I have learned so much through my years in 4-H and I know that my 4-H experience will be a valuable asset in my future."

Aden recently graduated from Pomeroy-Palmer High School. He plans to attend Iowa State University to study agricultural engineering.
