Greene County 4-H Member Receives Iowa State Fair 4-H Scholarship

AMES, Iowa -- A $1,000 scholarship has been awarded to a Greene County 4-H member. Kristin Towers, Scranton, received an Iowa State Fair 4-H Scholarship sponsored by the Iowa Foundation for Advancement of Agriculture.

 

Towers, a nine-year 4-H member, is the daughter of Dan and Katie Towers. She has served as secretary and treasurer of her 4-H club. Towers has participated most actively in the communications, food and nutrition, livestock, health and agriculture project areas. She has exhibited communications, food and nutrition, health and agriculture exhibits at the Iowa State Fair. Towers has received county communications project and Life Skills Achievement awards. She also is a member of the Greene County Young Leaders group. 

 

"4-H has given me the opportunity to gain experience in a variety of project areas," Towers said. "Through 4-H I have gained many skills for the future, including using resources and communications, as well as organizing and presenting information effectively. I appreciate all that 4-H offers."

 

Towers, a recent graduate of Jefferson-Scranton High School, plans to attend Iowa State University with a major in human development and family studies.
