Leadership skills

Develop your leadership skills as you go through the process of identifying needs in your community, group, or club, and develop an action plan to meet these needs. As you develop an action plan, discuss it with your parents or teachers. See if they are willing to help you implement these ideas. What other actions could be taken?

What natural resource issues in your town or city are important?

Look at things that are effecting the environment and try to develop a project that you could do to make local people more aware of what is happening in their community.

  • Waste water; where does your water go after running down your sink?
  • Land-fill issues; where does your garbage go after you leave it on the curb?
  • Are there ways that we can all have less impact on what happens to the environment around our homes and school?

Organize a field trip for your club. Talk to your County Conservation Board and ask them to do a program for you on an environmental issue you are interested in.
