January 21, 2015

The "Art of Gardening in Muscatine County" day-long seminar is used to educate and inspire others to seek enjoyment and fulfillment through a variety of home gardening-related topics and activities. A keynote speaker and a variety of breakout sessions are scheduled for the day as well as vendor exhibits. Registration fee for the entire day, including lunch, is $40. Space is limited-register early.

Muscatine County Extension welcomes Krista Regennitter as she  has joined the Muscatine County Extension staff on December 15, 2014, as the new County Extension Director. 

Krista formerly was with the Big Brothers/Big Sisters Program at the Muscatine Community Y.

Food Preservaton 101
August 4, 2014

United Way of Muscatine has started a new program with Blue Zones project called Food Policy.  The Food Policy group wanted to collect canning supplies for those who have the supplies and are not using them anymore to give to those who want to start canning.  The group then is pairing with Iowa State University Extension and Outreach to provide a canning class to help those preserve their fruit and vegetable produce so they can be enjoyed throughout the year.

Cattle feeders, order buyers and bankers now have a tool from the Iowa Beef Center to help them make cattle buying decisions.
