Horticultural Horizons in the Heartland

The 2015 International Master Gardener Conference will be held in Council Bluffs, Iowa on September 22-25.  Don't miss out on this great opportunity!  With five conference tracks, workshops galore, pre-tours, day-tours and post-tours there is sure to be something for any garden lover!  Early bird registration lasts until April 30th so register today!

Wellness and Independence through Nutrition

ISU Extension and Outreach is seeking volunteers for our Wellness and Independence through Nutrition (WIN) program to present information intended to help answer questions about the Iowa Food Assistance program, dispel some myths associated with Food Assistance, and increase awareness of budget-friendly nutrition practices for midlife and older Iowans. 

Trinity Muscatine Community Health Fair
April 10, 2015

Join UnityPoint Health –Trinity Muscatine at the annual Community Health Fair on April 22! The health fair will bring in more than 80 vendors to showcase a range of health care and wellness organizations, service groups and businesses.  Activities will include a variety of free health and wellness screenings, information, cooking and fitness demonstrations, children’s activities, and  medication drop.  The public is encouraged to bring unused or outdated medications for safe disposal.

ServSafe®
April 3, 2015

For restaurants, foodservice managers and workers, ServSafe® is the food safety certification course developed by the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation and is one of several recognized by the Conference on Food Protection. The 8-hour course concludes with a certification exam. Iowa regulations require the person in charge of a foodservice to have demonstrated knowledge of food safety principles; ServSafe® certification is one way to demonstrate this knowledge.

Eastern Iowa 4-H Project Workshop

Eastern Iowa 4-H Project Workshop "Dare to Explore..."   4-H members, parents and volunteers are invited to join us for a day of inspiration and exploration. Cargill will sponsor the keynote speaker John Robinson who will inspire participants to take advantage of all you can, to be a leader, a contributing citizen, and see the value we all hold inside ourselves. Nine topics available for youth to learn about: • Communications/working exhibits • Food Science • FSQA • Horticulture • Leadership • Livestock Clinic • Photography • Visual Arts • Woodworking.
