Master Gardener Plant Sale

Muscatine County Master Gardeners will participate in a Muscatine Area Joint Plant Sale.  They will be offering established perennials.  Also participating in the plant sale will be the Cedar Valley Iris and Daylily Society with registered iris and daylilies and the Muscatine Garden Club will have other beautiful plants. 

4-H Fun Run

The 16th Annual Muscatine County 4-H Fun Run will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2017, at Musser Park, (next to the Salvation Army at 1000 Oregon Street), Muscatine, Iowa. All proceeds will go to the benefit of the Muscatine County 4-H program.

ServSafe®
March 3, 2017

For restaurants, foodservice managers and workers, ServSafe® is the food safety certification course developed by the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation and is one of several recognized by the Conference on Food Protection. The 8-hour course concludes with a certification exam. Iowa regulations require the person in charge of a foodservice to have demonstrated knowledge of food safety principles; ServSafe® certification is one way to demonstrate this knowledge.

Master Gardener Mini-Grant Recipient

The Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Master Gardener program distributed $21,000 in food security mini-grant funds in 2016 courtesy of Iowa State University’s SNAP-Education.

The mini-grant allowed the Mulford Community Garden in Muscatine County to expand the number of families participating in the garden from 18 to 28.

The Muscatine County Extension Service held its annual 4-H Recognition Program on Sunday, November 6, at the Muscatine High School Gym.  Nearly 70 4-H members, leaders, clubs, and other adults were recognized for their accomplishments during the 2015-16 4-H year. 

Jerry & Robynmn Anderson

Muscatine County’s inductees into the 2016 4-H Hall of Fame are Jerry and Robynn Anderson. Jerry and Robynn have been involved in 4-H since they became 4-H members in their youth. Over the years they have been County Council advisors, started a Clover Kids group, the Wapsie Legends, and the Sci-Tech 4-H Clubs. They have also helped with and conducted numerous workshops over the years. Both Robynn and Jerry are "retiring" from 4-H, although Robynn is in the process of creating a 4-H Health Club. Jerry and Robyn are a very deserving couple for representing Muscatine County in the Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame.

Clover Kids is a FUN youth program specially designed for children in Kindergarten—3rd grade. The focus is on hands-on cooperative learning in small groups. Clover Kids participate in activities, games, and other positive experiences in a supportive, creative, challenging and fun environment.
