So yesterday my 15 year old son tried leaping over the couch for the phone and ended up with one toe pointing in the wrong direction. Whether it is broken or just dislocated, I'm not sure. He was able to pull it and put it back into place. It appears to be pretty swollen and he is in a good deal of pain.

I never really know what to do in terms of seeking medical attention. So we called the hospital and were told there really isn't much you can do, except to live with the pain, ice it, and watch it turn different shades of purple.

So, today, we have used the broken toe as an excuse to sit, relax and watch the entire three extended versions of LOTR movies. We will see how far we get. Sam and Frodo have just been sent on their way out of the Shire (I hope they'll be OK).
