Blue Ribbon and Premise ID
I got this question today from Sheri Postma in Marion County. Both of us would appreciate having you respond back in the comments section with your ideas and thoughts. I don't see a reason it wouldn't work, but maybe some of you have found different things when using the Comments field.
"We REALLY want to keep Premise ID numbers with 4-H members and Blue Ribbon is the logical place to do this. Can anyone see a reason why it wouldn't work to enter this in the "comment" box on the parent screen? This is blank in all of our files."

I am curious...why do we need to have the premise ID info? Yes, county fairgrounds need to have a premise ID, but I wonder why we need to know member numbers?

I am wondering if there is a more logical place for this number. Our swine packer this year required this number on the trucker sheet of all of our exhibitors. It would be nice to have this number so we can easily pull it out with exhibitor name and address.

I use the Blue Ribbon Fair Program and there is a place for the premise ID there but I see no reason why can't put it in the comment box on the parent form. I hardly ever have used that box.

Black Hawk County uses the family comment field frequently enough to make it unusable for premise IDs. Typically this is the field where we put in contact info for non-custodial parents or other important miscellaneous.
However I'd love to see Premise IDs in BR.

Our county was looking for a way to keep the premise ID numbers each year. It would be nice to have BR keep the numbers stored for us.

It would be nice to have a place for the premise ID #'s in the Blue Ribbon program. Our swine packer required 2 copies of the original premise ID application along with an affidavit signed by the fairboard president and swine superintendent. I feel that this premise ID number will be in hot demand for 2009! We need a logical place to have it easily accessible.

Nancy and I were looking over Blue Ribbon to see logically where you could put the premise ID numbers and what about the Member certification tab. OR the Awards tab. Both of these you are able to pull a report or mailing labels for. Member certification already has a spot for a certification number!!

I liked the idea of using the member certification number, but don't seem to have the option of exporting that (into my FmPro fair program). However, under leader certification, there is a space for "Comment" and that can be exported. It won't stay with the parent/farm that way, but it will stay with the kid.
