ISU Extension New and Beginning Farmer Night April 8

With the current interest in Iowa Agriculture, and growing food locally, more people are exploring ways to get involved in farming as a business.   Making decisions about how to get started in a new business can be challenging, and those challenges are particularly great for new and beginning farmers.  Even early career farmers and their families in the process of establishing and expanding their operations face business planning issues.  Whether it is getting started in a row crop farm, a vegetable production business, or other agricultural small business, having the necessary tools and resources is important for economic success.
ISU/Mills County Extension & Outreach is presenting a New and Beginning Farmer Night on April 8th at the Mills County Extension office in Malvern.  The evening  program will start at 6:30 pm, with a light meal provided on site.  Shane Ellis, ISU farm management specialist, will share information on the following topics:  acquiring financing, structuring the business, developing a success plan, legal considerations, plus an overview of available resources from ISU Extension and Outreach Agriculture and Natural Resources.
To reserve a meal, please pre- register by April 4th.  To register, please call the Mills County Extension office at 712-624-8616 or email
