Get Excited About Family Meals! Program May 7th
Area families will soon have the opportunity to learn about the importance of family meals! Registered dietitian, Barb Fuller, MA, RD, LD will be presenting “Family Mealtimes, Anytime, Anyplace” on May 7 at 6:30 at the ISU Extension and Outreach office in Red Oak. Families will learn about the importance of eating meals together, as well as ways to make it easier and more enjoyable.
“The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and our Foundation are proud to support efforts like this to educate the public,” said registered dietitian and Academy Foundation Chair, Diane Heller. “Our Kids Eat Right program is designed to help families shop smart, cook healthy and eat right, and these mini-grants provide registered dietitians with financial support to better reach and educate families in their communities with these messages.
As a Kids Eat Right Campaign Member, Fuller was awarded one of 36 mini-grants by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Foundation. Kids Eat Right is a platform designed to ensure that sound nutrition recommendations are part of childhood obesity prevention. A member-driven public education campaign, Kids Eat Right mobilizes the Academy’s more than 74, 000 members to support families, schools, and communities in their pursuit of quality nutrition for all children. Registered dietitians are the food and nutrition experts and the most qualified professionals to bring families and communities along in the quest to help Kids Eat Right.
