Boots to Heels Conference for Women
Women in Southwest Iowa are invited to a day of fun, learning and friendship during the annual Boots to Heels Conference on Saturday, April 12th. The conference runs from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Cass County Community Center in Atlantic. The local planning committee is excited to have a dynamic lineup of speakers scheduled for the one-day conference, to focus on the interests of women living and working in rural Iowa.
“Boots to Heels started as a day to recognize and celebrate rural women and the many roles and responsibilities they have in our local communities,” says Kate Olson, program coordinator with Cass County ISU Extension. “We have a great mix of attendees every year; some come for the first time, others return and bring friends; we’ve even had whole groups attend together! There truly is something for everyone, and each year we hear how much fun the ladies have, and how much they have learned. We are very excited to be going into our 8th year of this fantastic event!”
Currently scheduled speakers include Kris Boettger, owner of Barn Happy in Cedar Falls, as the keynote speaker to start off the conference, and Brandi Eckles, owner of Lou Lou's clothing store in Atlantic to discuss fashion trends and tips over the lunch hour. Additional breakout sessions include some favorite speakers and topics from years past. Breakout topics range from fitness to food and wine pairing, and farmland leasing to arm-knitting a scarf! Favorite presenters from previous conferences include Kate Kohorst, Dawn Rice and Aubrey Stuart. A few new speakers also join the lineup to share their expertise with conference attendees.
Treats for the taste buds also await conference-goers, as breakfast, lunch and a special dessert are served up by locally-owned businesses. Door prizes, a festive atmosphere and plenty of time for conversation and networking will truly make this an event not to be missed!
Registration for the entire day, which includes all sessions, a continental breakfast, lunch, dessert and materials, is just $30. Registration forms with a full schedule are available at local supporting businesses anor can be printed at the link below. Register today to reserve your spot!
