Women, Land & Legacy of Southwest Iowa is excited to present “Women Gaining Ground,” a one-day conference designed to be fun and empowering for women from all walks of life.  The conference will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at the Glenwood High School. This year’s keynote speaker will be Juli Burney, an award winning teacher, entertainer and author. Juli’s credentials include the ability to entertain like a headline comedian while inspiring audiences with the ease of a top-notch motivational speaker.

October 25, 2016

ISU Extension and Outreach Montgomery County is celebrating CyDay Friday on October 28th by providing Harvest Hospitality to Montgomery County farmers, truckers and residents. Join us in our front parking lot at 400 Bridge Street from 2 pm to 4 pm as we distribute cookies, apples, refreshments and Cyclone gear to area farmers, truckers and residents. 

October 20, 2016

Voters will have the opportunity to elect four members of the Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Montgomery County Council from a slate of candidates at the Nov. 8 general election.

June 2, 2016

Twenty-seven youth, grades 5th through 9th, recently participated in a Babysitter Workshop hosted in partnership with ISU Extension and Outreach Montgomery County and Montgomery County Memorial Hospital. The class was held on June 1st at MCMH and taught safety/first aid, CPR, child development and other babysitting basics. 

Montgomery County Extension has 3 Different Healthy Eating Demonstration kits available for checkout to the public at no charge.  these kits are excellent ways to teach healthy eating to your community group, class or club.

  • Food Portions (serving size demonstrations)
  • Super Size Sugar (How much sugar is in your pop?)

Statewide Resources

  • Participate in these classes for child care providers focused on healthy, affordable food choices and physical activities for children. Department of Human Services-approved credit is available for those attending.

  • The Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP), Family Nutrition Program (FNP), and Loving Your Family-IA  are FREE programs that help parents provide nutritious food for their families, leading to healthy children and strong families

  • The number of overweight children (ages 6-11) has almost quadrupled in the past four decades and for adolescents (12-19) has tripled. This series of handouts is designed to help parents, communities, and childcare providers address the overweight issue.

    Keep your family or your customers safe by following these food safety tips. The Food Safety Project offers resources for foodservice operators, consumers, and educators.

  • Preserve the Taste of Summer

    Interested in canning, freezing, and dehydrating foods? Join our food preservation program available online and through hands-on workshops to learn and practice safe food preservation techniques.
