Iowans are beginning to discover their connections to Iowa’s Land Grant Legacy. They’ll have the opportunity to celebrate and share their stories during Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Week, April 17-22.

Iowans can learn how to “Preserve the Taste of Summer” during online lessons and hands-on workshops from Iowa State University Extension and Outreach. The online lessons already are available and workshops are planned. A salsa canning workshop will be held June 1 in Red Oak at the Gold Fair Building from 4:30 pm to 8: 30 pm.

Thank you for your continuous support of Montgomery County 4-H and FFA programs! Over 160 youth participated in the 2016 county fair and we are gearing up for another great year ahead.  We are pleased to present you with wonderful sponsorship opportunities. We recognize our sponsors play a vital role in the overall success of 4-H and FFA at the Montgomery County Fair year after year. Therefore, we have developed a sponsorship program including different levels to fit all budgets.

The Iowa State University Extension and Outreach in Montgomery County received a $1,000 grant for its Beginning and Young Agricultural Producers program. Farm Credit Services of America (FCSAmerica) provided the Working Here Fund grant to support a yearlong educational program focused on the business end of farming.

Walking School Buses and Afterschool Programs will kick off on Wednesday, April 5th for youth in Red Oak. The Walking School Bus program is available to youth enrolled in 4th – 8th grades.

  • Reports of recent and historical trends in the local retail trade sector by city.

  • Nonprofit Management Academies enhance the management skills of those serving nonprofit sector.

  • Helping the College of Engineering and Iowa State University Extension and Outreach carry out their land-grant university mission to improve the quality of life in Iowa by enhancing the performance of Iowa industry.

  • The CVC facilitates networking among small and medium size rural communities, sponsors policy analyses, engages communities in dialogue, and fosters discussion among rural and urban interests.

  • Data on each county in Iowa including population demographics, education, retail sales, personal income, employment, occupation, housing, and family characteristics.

  • Provides opportunities for youth to develop skills they can use now and throughout their life, empowering them to reach their full potential working and learning in partnership with caring adults.
