4H is a program that promotes growth and responsibility.  It allows our kids to learn leadership skills through their  yearly club projects.  As parents we get to be involved in the process and help them to grow.                                                                                                                             Rebecca, Brenda, Logan, and Paul Hatfield

The Sheep Production Skill Development Workshop scheduled to be held on Saturday Nov. 21 in Ames in cancelled due to an expected snow storm that day.  The program location was the Deb and Jeff Hanson Agriculture Learning Center located at 2508 Mortensen Road in Ames.

The free workshop will be rescheduled for an undetermined day in January 2016.  Topics covered will be productive management of ewe stock, basick sheep nutrition and feeding, a hands-on session at the Iowa State University Sheep Teaching Farm, condition scoring, mouthing, and aging, using CIDRS and ram breeding tests, and hay sampling.  

More information will be available at a later date.

The Iowa State University Extension and Outreach, Lucas County and the McNay Memorial Research Center will hire one to two summer college interns to work at the research farm and programming.

It's anhydrous ammonia season.  Soil temperatures haved dropped below 50 degrees F making conditions favorable for making fall anyhdrous ammonia nitrogen applicatons.
