Cornbelt Conference Returns with Fresh Topics to Bring Profit to Cow-calf Businesses

The 39th annual Cornbelt Cow-Calf Conference - the largest such conference of its kind in the state - provides producers with the opportunity to learn and share ideas that will help make the cow-calf business profitable and competitive on a long-term basis. This year's confernce is Saturday, February 27, 2010, staring at 9:30 a.m. at the Bridge View Center in Ottumwa.

A series of forage management workshops, sponsored by the Southern Iowa Forage and Livestock Committee, the Iowa Beef Center-Iowa State University Extension; the Natural Resources Conservation Service, and the Iowa Forage and Grasslands Council are being scheduled.

The JEL group (just eliminate lies) from the Albia Community High School participated in the Great American Smoke Out putting white cups in the High School Football fence that spelled out ACHS Smoke Free.

Cell Phones for Soldiers hopes to collect over 50,000 cell phones this year to help keep troops connected with their families. Monroe County 4-H members are asking Monroe County residents to support these brave men and women by donating your unused cell phone.
