Monona County 4-H Fruit Sales Successful with Excellent Fruit
Monona County 4-H’ers had a successful year again in their fruit sales and with the help of area supporters, over $26,600.00 worth of fresh fruit was sold. The fruit was purchased through Minntex Corporation of Windom, Minnesota as in the past.
Profits are divided between the 4-H clubs and the county 4-H fund. The funds provide scholarships to 4-H’ers for 4-H activities and camps, and support 4-H events. The 4-H program extends their appreciation to all who purchased fruit and made this fundraiser a success. We also congratulate and appreciate the 4-H’ers that took the extra effort to be top salespeople in the county for selling fruit. Top four fruit sales people were: Courtney Davis $1,497 from Bobcats 4-H Club, top salesperson; Lauryn Teel $1,099 from Badgers 4-H Club; Sara Maule $967 from Frankin Go-Getters 4-H Club; and Easton Conlon $943 from Mapleton Starspinners 4-H Club. They each received a $25 check for their outstanding efforts.
It was a chilly morning for volunteers to unload and sort fruit according to clubs on Saturday, March 23, 2013, at Struble Agronomy in Onawa. We greatly appreciate Nick Struble for providing the use of his facility and forklift. The use of the forklift made the task of taking the fruit off the truck for clubs to separate their orders much easier and convenient for all. Thanks to all volunteers including, 4-H County Council members and others who helped sort the fruit which includes all the 4-H leaders in coordinating or picking up orders for their clubs and distributing to their customers. We thank everyone for making this fundraiser a complete success! Thanks for your support to the 4-H program.
