The ISU Sesquicentennial was celebrated in Monona County through the development of an ISU display of the history of agriculture.  The display is located in the new ag building of the Monona County Museum.  Monona County Extension hosted an open house at the museum on July 14.  Dr. Gerald Miller, Iowa Extension Director of Agriculture & Natural Resources, represented ISU President Geoffroy in presenting a commemorative plaque to Monona County Extension Council chairman, Bob Haack.  Haack in turn presented the plaque to Museum managers Jim Robbins and Phyllis Mander.  The Bobcats 4-H Club served refreshments of sweet soil treats representing the parts of soil and suger cookies.

A memorial painted quilt block was also part of the sesquicentennial recognition.  The block was painted by alumni of the Jordan Sunshine 4-H Club in memory of 4-H club leaders Vivian Andersen and Betty Jane Gorham and club educator Extension Home Economist Lettie thrift.  The block is displayed outside the 4-H exhibit building on the Monona County fairgrounds.

Monona County ISU supporters through Extension and 4-H and ISU alumni teamed with Woodbury County to participate with a float in the Rivercade Parade in Sioux city on July 18.  The float was complete with the campanile and CY.
