Monona County Extension brings Iowa State University to you

Welcome - The Monona County Extension and Iowa State University Extension helps the people in Monona County and the state of Iowa in many ways.  The 2006 Monona County Stakeholder Report summarizes the programs, events, and efforts.  Developing partners in these events has increased participation, cooperative ventures for programs, and positive attitudes in Monona County.

2,594 participated in 93 organized Extension meetings and programs that were held in nine different communities in Monona County
  • re-certification instruction for private and commercial pesticide applicators and confinement site manure applicators
  • ag education on farmland leasing, Monona County soil survey  distribution, marketing, and crop and livestock production
  • education for community members, leaders and families including county visioning, strengthening families, money management, nutrition, and living with grief
  • special programs for youth such as workshops on citizenship, nutrition and fitness, fire and volunteer services, livestock quality assurance, babysitting, youth team building, farm safety, camps and trips.
  • training and support to over 100 adult volunteers who worked with 277 youth in 16 organized 4-H clubs.
