Come together with your neighbors, fellow community members, and hundreds of thousands of other Iowans to support the Healthiest State Initiative on October 5th! The goal of this initiative is to make Iowa the healthiest state in the nation. The Walk brings communities in all of Iowa’s 99 counties together in support of that goal, and is presented by Delta Dental of Iowa.

Powerful Tools for Caregivers is an educational series designed to provide tools you need to take care of yourself. If you take good care of yourself, you will be better prepared to take good care of your loved one. As a participant, you will learn how to: reduce stress, better communicate your feelings, balance your life, increase ability to make tough decisions, improve self-confidence, and locate helpful resources.

Yes, that is what a real piglet sounds like, the goat does have course fur.  These things and more are learned in a great hands-on way at the Vinton Farm.  The Mills County 1st graders get a great tour, thanks to a grant from Farm Bureau, Steve and Carol Vinton and Sherry Ford.

  • Participate in these classes for child care providers focused on healthy, affordable food choices and physical activities for children. Department of Human Services-approved credit is available for those attending.

  • The Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP), Family Nutrition Program (FNP), and Loving Your Family-IA  are FREE programs that help parents provide nutritious food for their families, leading to healthy children and strong families

  • The number of overweight children (ages 6-11) has almost quadrupled in the past four decades and for adolescents (12-19) has tripled. This series of handouts is designed to help parents, communities, and childcare providers address the overweight issue.
