Successes

Comments from Mentors

I work in the same office as my mentee and watch for clues when he needs a good listening ear about a situation or problem he is facing.  We now call these our "therapy" sessions and sometimes joke....."Do you need therapy?" or "I need therapy!"

I have kept in touch with my mentee by e-mail and several face-to-face meetings.  So far we have just had time to visit one another's world and do some sharing.  Since my mentee has had some previous experience in other Extension roles, my function has been just to help her with some of the big picture issues in the system - like putting programs on the calendar and some general reporting items.  Not too exciting, but I do know we are fortunate to have this employee - dynamic, dynamite person.

As a mentor I offered a lot of encouragement and support to my mentee when there were employee problems in the county office.  Ultimately the issues were resolved and the new employee made the decision to stay with ISUE.
