Listen and Ask

Perhaps the most potent and tested counsel for all who truly want to motivate other or help them achieve their own motive-action, is the following.  Think about it again and again and again.

  • Ask, listen and hear in order to determine their wants, needs and possibilities.

Telling diminishes others.  Asking enhances and empowers others.
All can be canceled or negated by negative listening.

  • Waiting until the other person has stopped speaking and then saying what you were going to say anyhow.
  • One provides an answer without knowing the question.
  • Another way to destroy good communication is to finish the other person's sentence for him/her out loud.
