4-H clover

4-H is a community of young people across America learning leadership, citizenship and life skills. 4H is a great way to explore your interests, make new friends and just have fun with over 60 projects available to Iowa 4H'ers!

How do I join?

1. Contact current 4H club leaders.  Consider where and when a club meets and how that will work for your family.  Consider potential friends for you. Ask the club leader:  Where and when do you meet?  Who are current members?  What does the club emphasize? Community service, livestock, communications, etc.

2. Consider forming a new club.  Contact the Marshall County Extension Office- call 641-752-1551 and Doni Sheldon, Marisue Hartung or Angie Nelson will answer your questions.

3. Join a 4H club this fall.  Clubs will be finishing the current year and gearing up for the new 4H program year.  Please contact the club of your choice to find out when their next meeting is.  They can provide you with the enrollment form and the new "Pick a Project" newspaper.

4. Fill out a 4H enrollment form and return it to your leader.  They will also need your enrollment fee at this time.  In Marshall County there is a $20 per member fee to join 4H.  This is collected through the clubs.  No member will be denied access to 4H based on his or her ability to pay. Please contact the Extension office if a member has problems paying this development fee.

5. Read the Marshall County newsletter, the Clover Courier. It is available on this website to your right.  This is sent monthly to keep you informed of project workshops and deadlines and 4H opportunities.

If you have question about 4H, please contact the Marshall County Extension Office. (641) 752-1551.
